Samuel P. Taylor State Park & Point Reyes.
This is October 4th, 2008, which is pretty deep into Fall already. It's hard to get campground reservations near San Francisco, thus the late date for this spot on the Sir Francis Drake highway, in the Marin Headlands, at the Samuel Taylor state park. It was rainy most of Saturday, but the weather cleared, so we went in the afternoon. In the morning, we tried to go for a swim in the creek, but only Eustache mustered the courage, it was so cold. There was a mother with a daughter who took a liking to Eustache and Aema, even though she was maybe 10 yo, and told them spooky stories. There were giant trees with ghostly shapes that scared Aema, she would not go near them.

After the disappointment of not being able to do water plays, we went for lunch. I believe it was at the Station House Cafe. I had a good time, but Aema did not like the Reuben sandwich I had ordered. So we ended up ordering some pot stickers from the Chinese truck outside of the restaurant for her to eat.

Then we went to Point Reyes, at Heart's Desire beach. It's a beach on the cove side of the Point Reyes peninsula. It's very pretty. Eustache again showed he was much more courageous than his dad and sister, and tried to swim. We hiked up from the beach to a little promontory with picnic tables and lovely views.

Then we did a hike towards the tip of Point Reyes, an area full of elks.
